I started writing at the start of 2014 and this is my second blog.
Jeff Goins said the blog that finally worked for him and gained an audience was his ninth. I have 8 more tries so at least there’s a little hope.
I am a writer. I am a weird writer.
I don’t write fiction. All fiction authors deserve major props coz what they do is hard. I’m not very or even remotely imaginative. I also don’t write fancy. Like those literature types. I’m sure the literature gods look at me with disdain. Whatever!
That is because I am a tad simple minded. Like I love my friend Chelsea’s poems, coz you can figure out what she is trying to say in 2 minutes. I do not like poems that give me a headache trying to decipher them. NO, NO, NO.
I recently found out the articles that had the most traction with readers were events very close to my heart or something I live with daily.
These articles, that resonated with many people, are articles I don’t have to bang my head to produce and flow like a river from me once I sit down to write them. Anything I struggle with will not be a good experience for me or for the reader.
For example, when I wrote about my dad’s and sister’s death I had readers bawling and people told me things like “Your story took me to the time I spend in the hospice with my dying mum.”
My new blog will only feature articles that strike a chord with me. Since blogging is hard work, I have decided not to start another one, if coming up with a post idea will mean me banging my head against a wall.
My last blog was about living abroad as a Kenyan but I was not passionate about that topic after a period of time. Yawn.
I guess you will get to know me through the articles and hopefully you will feel sorry for me and buy all my future books. Like a pity book buy. Anything to get me to see Oprah. LOL.
I will post weekly because I can’t produce good daily content. (excuses, excuses)
Some topics close to my heart: Jesus, writing, anything related to your purpose; finding it, living it, getting frustrated about it, opinions on trending topics……which I love to keep a pulse on etc. The blog posts will also tie in to my book topics, one way or another.
I hope you enjoy the blog and follow me on Instagram, Twitter and join my email list coz I will need a launch team soon to gather reviews.
Excuse it for not looking very top notch. I hate technology. I hate figuring it out and currently can’t afford good tech support. Plus the blog team consists of me, myself and I. 🙂
